Welcome Back Emmons Cottage Art Gallery, nestled in the beautiful gardens of the Ormond Memorial Art Museum.  They are reopening after their summer break. 

All local artists representing watercolors, oils, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography and more!

Here are some of the events we have planned:

Ø  “Streetscapes” Art Contest!  - Seven of our local artists have taken the month of August to look, ponder, and capture the essence of E. Granada Boulevard.  Check out their work and YOU BE THE JUDGE!  Vote for Best Streetscape, Most Original, and Fan Favorite – ballot is the back of the Passport, available at all participating merchants. (Read information on the artists at the end of this email)

Ø  The Art of Relaxation – Yoga demonstrations will be given at Granada Plaza.  They will demonstrate Partner Yoga.  See how relaxing Yoga can be in addition to helping with flexibility and overall health.  Give-aways for a yoga bag, yoga lessons and a drawing for $10 gift certificates to The Bikini Company! 

Ø  The Art Of Self-Expression – Just dying to scratch out a stick figure, or tree, or even a work of art but have no outlet – now you do.  Pick up your colored chalk at any participating merchant and YOU BE THE ARTIST on the sidewalks along the stroll route.  Make your own art or add to someone else’s – just for the fun of it.  Also, check out the whiteboards along the route and use the markers to make your artistic mark.  Erasers provided to clear the slate for even more art! 

Ø  The Art of Décor -   Elements of Design wants to get you started by offering 20% off all wall art!  Don’t stop there – 10% off everything else! 

Ø  The Art Of Photography!  The Casement’s Camera Club Show Opening will provide great images to enjoy. Come see the world through the camera and the artist’s eye!

Ø  The Art of Style –Bonnie’s Boutique continues to provide great fashions at affordable prices.  Bonnie’s is offering 25% off  storewide (except new arrivals).  Plus for  jewelry – buy one and get a second for $5.00!!!

Ø  The Art of Music – Enjoy the sounds of Brett Reid at Granada Plaza, Daniel Yancy at the Shoppes at Oceanside, Shaina Harper (3:30pm) and Jason crow (9 – midnight at LuLu’s Oceanside Grill!

Ø  The Art of Being Young At Heart – Be the child within and take a turn with a Hula Hoop that will be available for kids at The Bikini Company.  The kids can join the contest but we adults will just have to do it for fun, laughs, and realize how much exercise it really is! 

Ø  The Art of The Palate – Our merchants offer a variety of great food:  Noah’s Market, Peach Valley Café, Hershey’s Ice Cream of Ormond Beach, Lulu’s Oceanside Grill and Larry’s Giant Subs!  Grab something to take to the Movies on the Halifax as well!

Ø  The Art of The Spirits – Check out Bon! Gourmet and Noah’s Market for great wine tastings and the best to take home with you!  LuLu’s Oceanside Grill will be featuring a French Martini for $5.00!

Ø  The Art of Cinema– Convenient parking behind The Casements makes it easy for you to park, mark your spot with a blanket or chair at Rockefeller Gardens early in the evening (staff will keep an eye on it for you) then do the stroll.  Come back and watch “National Treasure” under the stars at Movies on the Halifax. 

Ø  Emmons Cottage Art Gallery Reopening - Meet and greet many of the artists and view their new work.  All local artists.  All great original art!  Jessie Cook and Carol Thornton are your hosts for the evening.

Ø  Raffles & Prizes – Stop in each merchant to see what their special is of the month, or raffle or prizes they have to offer.  These vary each month and are fun to win! 

Ø  Merchant Of The Month – Marguerite’s Florist  is our Merchant Of The Month, located at 52 E. Granada Blvd. in The Shoppes at Oceanside.

Carol Thornton   - “The Cottage” – On Display at Emmons Cottage Art Gallery

Carol is a founding member of the Emmon’s Cottage Co-op.  She also belongs to the National Museum for Women Artists and the Florida Museum of Women Artists and primarily paints ‘Old Florida’ waterways and marshes.

Trish Vevera – “Window Shopping” – On Display at Bon! Gourmet

Trish Vevera, Ormond Beach,  paints acrylics and oils using the area landscape and cityscape as her source."

Barbara Perrotti – “Breakfast At Noah’s” – On Display at Noah’s Market

Barbara is an area artist who loves spending her time painting outside- Downtown , in the suburbs and along the beautiful country roads and waterways of Ormond Beach.  She has been an artist since the tender age of 7.  She is listed in Who's Who in American Art and teaches locally at the Art League of Daytona. 

Ken Kuhar – “Cool Corner” – On Display at The Bikini Company

“I live in Ormond-By-the-sea and am a land surveyor by profession.  I enjoy my time painting in  Florida and Pisgah Forest, North Carolina with my wife,  Celeste and dog Mac”

Jan Obendorfer – “Gardens on E. Granada” – On Display at Elements of Design

Jan is a Daytona Beach native who grew up 2 blocks from the beach.  She studied under Nina Masters.  Jan moved away from the area for a lengthy career with Eastern Air Lines and has lived and raised a family in several areas of the US.  Jan enjoys painting in both acrylics as well as oil. 

Marilyn Masters – “Ormond by The Sea” – On Display at Bonnie’s Boutique

“I love to paint outdoors - the light, shadows, feeling all that is around and being inspired by our beautiful Florida.”

Marge Drew – “Farmer’s Market” – On Display at The Casements

“My hope is that the very quiet softness that I feel whenever I am painting  will bathe the viewer in its calming voice.”
